President Bush (jr) called off an FBI investigation of two Bin Ladens siblings who lived in the USA. The members of Bin Laden's family and the Bush family had business relationships for years in various oil and defense contracting businesses, including the Carlyle Group (8 ).
Former president Bush (sr) served as Carlyle "ambassador" and has traveled to the Middle East on its behalf. Other well placed people connected to Carlyle are James A. Baker III, Frank C. Carlucci, Prime Minister John Major(9).
In 1995 the Bin Laden family invested hundreds of millions in Carlyle Partners II the firm specializes in buyouts in defense and aerospace companies( 10 ).
President Bush (jr) was appointed the board of Carlyle's Caterair subsidiary in 1990, he stepped down in 1994 the year he was appointed governor of Texas, after Carlyle landed at least two business deals involving Texas (11 ).
The rift between Bin Laden and the US government happened after he returned to Saudi Arabia in 1989. After the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait Bin Laden wanted to use the "mujahedin" to expel the Iraqis. The Saudi rebuffed the idea. After this moved to Sudan and bought land to train Al Qaeda militants against US interest (12 ).
