A tormented 12 year old girl tried to kill herself after years of bullying. She endured being allegedly beaten unconscious, threatened with a knife, she was taken to the hospital after being hit in the head with an iron bar, push down stairs had her arm and nose broken. The final straw was when a gang of bullies chase her as she left the school (5 ).
In a case of what has been called "bullying to the extreme." Three bullies, two fourteen year olds and thirteen year old held their 12 year old victim down and cut her wrists (6 ).
In Japan in March 2009 a 16 year old high school student committed suicide after being bullied. He hung himself and a note was found on his personal computer (7 ).
Even though the school district claimed to have a "zero-tolerance policy for bullying" 14 year old Jeremiah Lasater, took a gun to the restroom and ended his life due to bullying. This after years he had openly been terrorized, he was pelted with food in the cafeteria, hit with rocks and insulted in the classroom(8 ).
An 11 year old boy way bullied and ended his life by hanging himself with an electrical cord. This even after repeated calls to the school by his parents, to school in an attempt to stop the bullying (9).
In a separate incident another 11 year old hung himself after enduring a long history of bullied, it appears the school also did not take this bullying seriously (10 ).
Cyber bullying can have even worse consequences Jeff Johnston, a 15-year-old from Florida, hanged himself in 2005, and Ryan Halligan, 13, of Vermont, hanged himself in 2003 (11 ).
A twelve year old New Zealand boy with ADD committed suicide after being tormented by bullies. He brother was moved to another school because of bullying, the victim was scheduled to transfer to another school before he committed suicide (12 ).
