Some "Christians" are just wacky
Mr. Bennett, has also favored removing children from single parent homes and placing them in "orphanages"(11 ).
Anyway are single parent homes a cause of crime? According to Stephanie Coontz, professor of history and human values, Evergreen State College; Olympia, Wash., said "Reality: While divorce sometimes causes serious problems for children, it is not always good for parents to stay together "for the sake of the kids." There is much wider variation among children from single-parent families, including never-married ones, than there is between the averages for each category. It's how a family acts that really counts, not the makeup. The number of times you eat dinner with your kids every week is a better guide to how well they'll turn out than the number of parents at the dinner table. A mother's educational status has more influence on her child's future achievement than her marital status (12 ).
Study found that the belief that single parent homes or poverty increased cause at risk behavior (like sex drugs and alcohol use) is spurious (13 ).
It is the quality of the home and the relationships of the people in the child's life that have an impact.
Ole Bill seems to believe that the "sins" of the parents SHOULD visit the kids. Tossing sinners into hell fire best part of religion. It so cool we should ignore the parts of the bible that are counter to this .
And ignore the possible negative outcomes, hey they are paying for the sins of the parent.
Research has found that toddlers taken from orphanages and place in good foster homes score dramatically IQ tests. And "The longer they stay in the institution, the worse their IQ," according to researchers (14).
Children from Orphanages can suffer from a life long disorder called attachment disorder (15 ).
Attachment disorder can cause "inability to learn from mistakes", "learning problems or delays in learning", "impulsive behavior" "abnormal speech patterns" and "destructive or cruel behavior" (16 ) .
To be fair and more clear, since this is the worldwide web, I am speaking of a blanket policy of taking children away from single parents in the USA. Not every situation is the same either in the US or aboard. Sometimes placing a child in a "orphanage" might be better or at least a viable option. Research done by Duke University has show this. Researcher Kathryn Whetten said "Our research is not saying that institutions are better. What we found is that institutions may be a viable option for some kids," and she noted "As the number of orphans continues to rise worldwide, it is vital not to discount orphanages before assessing whether they are harmful to the millions of children for whom they care.". this research reported in 2009 covered the regions of Cambodia, Ethiopia, Hyderabad, Nagaland in India, Kenya, and Tanzania (17 ).
