Blackwater was founded by Erik Prince who used his inheritance to build his security firm. Blackwater is now renamed xe (and pronounced like the letter z). It also has a new Chief executive officer, Mr. Prince said "It is with pride in our many accomplishments and confidence in Xe's future that I announce my resignation as the company's Chief Executive Officer."(1 ).

What is this companies history?

Blackwater is probably one of the most infamous securities firms in Iraq.

A Blackwater newsletter is quoted as saying "Actually, it is 'fun' to shoot some people." The newsletter went on to say it is fun, meaning satisfying" to shoot terrorists. According to a news article. It isn't said how they determined who was a terrorist(2 ).

Blackwater USA fired 122 of its employees for a whole list of reasons, a few are, 28 were fired for weapons-related incidents, 25 for drug and alcohol violations and 16 for inappropriate or lewd conduct(3 ). The State departments handling of Blackwater is questionable "Even in cases involving the death of Iraqis, it appears that the State Department's primary response was to ask Blackwater to make monetary payments to 'put the matter behind us,' rather than to insist upon accountability or to investigate Blackwater personnel for potential criminal liability," its seems Blackwater employees are held to a lower standard, because "The most serious consequence faced by Blackwater personnel for misconduct appears to be termination of their employment."(4 ).

Blackwater is involved with a higher rate of shooting while guarding American diplomats in Iraq than other firms doing similar services in Iraq. The rate is twice that of DynCorp International and Triple Canopy two U.S. based firms (5 ).

A Congressional report alleged that Blackwater tried to cover up the shooting of an Iraqi man in 2005. Blackwater paid with US State Department Approval the family of the slain man. Iraqis claim the September 16 shoot out that killed 11 Iraqis, and involving Blackwater guards who were assigned to protect U.S. diplomatic convoy in Baghdad was unprovoked. Blackwaters counters this by saying their guards acted in Self defense(6 ).
