A report by Amnesty International said that Honor Killing "[i]n Pakistan, hundreds of women, of all ages, in all parts of the country and for a variety of reasons connected with perceptions of honor are killed every year. The number of such killings appears to be steadily increasing as the perception of what constitutes honor-and what damages it-steadily widens" (6 ). Nawal El Saadawi said " I've noticed that many people including professors of religion and Islamic studies, pick up one verse and say that in the Qur'an, God allowed men to beat women. They don't compare it to other verses. They also don't compare the Qur'an to the Bible. If you do, you will find the Bible more oppressive to women." (7 ). Bible quotes that indicate male superiority, this superiority could be used to validate violence against women. No the bible does say domestic violence is acceptable if it is taken in context. 1 Timothy 2 1 Corinthians 14 Colossians 3 Back to Islam, the Quran says that men should stay with their wives in kindness or separate from with kindness. One of the companions of the prophet asked the Apostle of Allah, "What do you say about our wives?" and he replied "Feed them with the food you eat, clothe them as you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them."
