Industry , groups like Global Climate Coalition and Information Council on the Environment assert Global Climate Coalition and the Information Council on the Environment (ICE). Assert, "reposition global warming as theory rather than fact," and "If the earth is getting warmer, why is Minneapolis [or Kentucky, or some other site] getting colder?" (28 ).
World Bank pro business, anti third world?
A World bank memo said "I think the economic logic behind dumping a load of toxic waste in the lowest wage country is impeccable and we should face up to that.". It is now claimed by the people responsible that the memo meant to be ironic, it was mocking an argument by other economists that free trade could be viewed as healthy for the environment(29).
the World Bank Memo also said "Shouldn't the World Bank be encouraging more migration of the dirty industries to the least developed countries?" it cited shorter human life spans, greater capacity to absorb pollution and lower aesthetic concerns (30 ).
The World Bank is promoting incineration of medical waste in poorer countries. This method of disposal is falling out of favor in the richer countries because it is seen as a leading source for dioxin, mercury and other Toxins. The World Bank back incineration projects in Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Comoros, Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Malawi, Mexico, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Vietnam, Western Samoa and Zimbabwe(31).
The World Bank Moved back into the Congo in 2002, after a war that killed millions. It encouraged the Congolese government to use forestry to help the economy. A report by an independent inspection panel comprised of senior bank staff and outside experts said, the World Bank mislead Congolese government, and broke its own rules. The logging endangered the lives of Congolese Pygmies(32).
