Why? An explanation
Andrew Bacevich, a former Army colonel who teaches international relations at Boston University Condemned those who "blindly defer to those in authority.", he explained "It's not only fundamentally undemocratic," And concluded , "it's also stupid."(8).
In 2004 Bob Muller, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation said about this "You know what these guys are doing? They're redefining ... patriotism." Patriotism "used to be about what people do, the action people take, the willingness to put your life at risk and sacrifice for the greater good," and he continued . "Now patriotism is wearing lapel pins and being ideologically in step with the administration."(9 ).
"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it."
"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."
"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."
"Without debate, without criticism, no administration and no country can succeed -- and no republic can survive"
